The Indian Women’s Team booked their ticket for the world cup when they defeated the Bangladesh Women in a Super Six match of the ICC Women World Cup Qualifier on Friday.
After winning the toss, the Indian Women decided to bowl and further restricted the opposition to a total of 155/8 in full 50 overs. Fargana Hoque was their highest scorer with a score of 50 off 107 balls. Sharmin Akhter also contributed to the score with her 35. For the Indians, Mansi Joshi – the pacer- was the pick of the bowlers as she took 3 wickets for just 25 runs. Also, Devika Vaidya- the leg spinner- took 2 wickets by giving just 17 runs.
On the other hand, the Indians chased down the total in just 33.3 overs with 9 wickets to spare. For the Indians, Mona Meshram and Captain Mithali Raj contributed with their 78* and 73* respectively and took India to a total of 158/1 in 33.3 overs. The only Indian Wicket to fall was of Deepti Sharma who was caught and bowled by Bangladeshi off-spinner Khadija Tul Khabra.
The Indian Women’s Team will definitely prove to be a tough competitor for the rest of the countries in the World Cup.
