The spin trap that India had laid out for the Aussies, came back to haunt them in the first innings on Day 2 at Pune. India lost 7 wickets in a span of 12 runs, to give Australia a lead of 155 runs.
The Indian team came out to bat in the first session of the day, getting the last wicket of the Australian Innings in the first over itself.
But three quick wickets of Vijay, Pujara and Kohli, left India reeling at 44/3. It was now upto Rahane and Rahul to get the runs for India. Thats’s what they did. The pair added 50 runs to the total, before Rahul played a lofted shot and perished at long-off.
This started a collapse of the Indian batting and India lost all its wickets in the next 11 runs they added.
Steve O’ Keefe was the main protagonist of this collapse, getting 6 of the Indian wickets.
Now Australia play with a lead of 155 runs, and will look to add many more to get their grip on the match.
