The Turkish mid-fielder Arda Turan has retired from international football after a spat with a reporter on a plane following a friendly match.
“I think the time has come,” he said. “I am ending my career with the national team.”
The 30- year old midfielder is reported to have abused and punched Bilal Mese on a flight on Monday. Later he was kicked out of the training session in Slovenia on Tuesday. Following this he decided to end his international duty after 94 apps and 17 goals for the Turkish national team.
“I really love my country. I really love my flag. I have always said if that’s what you want, I will retire,” he added
