Bakayoko warming up for his French national squad.
Much like most of the young talents emerging out of the high-flying Monaco team, Bakayoko has gained significant notoriety amongst several scouts in Europe. With Chelsea monitoring the tall Frenchman for over a year now, it seems like a match made in heaven as Conte looks for a more stable and a dynamic midfielder who could prove as an ideal cross between Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas.
With the Frenchman’s deal likely costing Chelsea about €45m, it seems like a fair valuation when you consider he is only 22 years of age and has shown a kind of maturity at the centre of the park only veterans are capable of. Bakayoko’s pairing with Fabinho last season resulted in being very successful for Monaco as they ran away with the Ligue 1 title and also almost made it all the way in the Champions League only to be halted by Juventus in the semi-finals.
The deal seems to be a likely one as Chelsea look to strengthen their midfield as they prepare to go deep into a Champions League run with Antonio Conte. And with Bakayoko seemingly interested in the deal, could Chelsea finally replace Frank Lampard in the form of the lanky Frenchman? Only time will tell!
