The draw for the group stage of the Fifa U17 World Cup India 2017 was held today in Mumbai. Hosts India will face the USA, Colombia and Ghana in New Delhi. The complete draw is as follows:
The other venues include Navi Mumbai, Kolkata, Guwahati, Goa and Kochi. Navi Mumbai and Guwahati will host the two semi-finals on 25th October and the final will be played at Kolkata on 28th October.
Host India has a decent group but will surely not be the favourites in their group due to the presence of Ghana and Colombia meanwhile one of the tournament favourites Brazil will face a stern test against Spain in Group D but both nations should progress to the Round of 16. Whereas in Group C Germany will be the team to watch as they continue their bid to reign supreme in the football world and will hope U17 World Cup adds to their tally whereas England will fear the worst as they might be heading for an early exit as they need to overcome at least one among Chile and Mexico to go through.
Group A: India, USA, Colombia, Ghana
Group B: Paraguay, Mali, New Zealand, Turkey
Group C: Iran, Guinea, Germany, Costa Rica
Group D: North Korea, Niger, Brazil, Spain
Group E: Honduras, Japan, New Caledonia, France
