After a clinical performance in the first two tests of the series, India looks all set and prepared to destroy the hosts once again in their own backyards. So far the series has been a nightmare for the Lankan fans except for the last innings of the second test. But due to that very inning, both the fans and the team must be somewhat confident about their performance in the last test.
However, it seems very difficult for the Lankan lions to win the match as they have lost the backbone of their bowling attack, Herath. India on the other hand, even after losing Sir Jadeja (who was handed a one-match suspension for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct) appears to be just too strong for the Lankan team. Suspension of Jadeja has proven to be a blessing in disguise for Kuldeep Yadav as he most probably will get the chance to make into the playing
Suspension of Jadeja has proven to be a blessing in disguise for Kuldeep Yadav as he most probably will get the chance to make into the playing XI. Pandya may also try to shut his critics by showing some sensible batting skills if at all they’ll be required.
If India manages to win this match then this Indian side will create a history by becoming only the second team to defeat Sri Lanka 3-0 in their own backyard after Australia. Apart from this it will also be the first instance for them to win three Tests in series away from home after 1968.
As far as the pitch is concerned it has been raining for two days in Pallekele, due to which both the teams canceled their respective practice sessions. The pitch, henceforth, has been under cover for last two days due to which the greenish color of the pitch has changed more to the browner side. The toss in this match will also play a crucial role.
Sri Lanka: Upul Tharanga, Dimuth Kunaratne, Kusal Mendis, Dinesh Chandimal©, Angelo Mathews, Niroshan Dickwela, Dilruwan Perera, Malinda Pushpkumara, Lahiru kumara, Vishwa Fernando, Lakshan Sandakan
India: Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli©, Ajinkya Rahane, R Ashwin, Wriddhiman Saha, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami
Apart from this expected XI India may give chance to the players sitting on the bench due to their formidable side and performance and most importantly a very weak Lankan team.
