Pandya and Kuldeep take India Close to a Clean Sweep

After the first day of the Pallekele test match, where India saw some ups and downs, the second day was all but dominated by the Indians. After a collapse in the middle order during India’s first innings, it was the turn for the new favorite of Indian fans, Hardik Pandya, to show some skill with the bat.

When Ashwin was dismissed it seemed as if Lanka will wrap up the Indian batting order under 400, but Pandya had some other plans. Pandya, as usual, came out with an attacking mindset which the fans seem to love so much.

Now it’s becoming a sort of trend for Pandya to hit three sixes in a row. This time it was Pushpakumara who became the witness to this devastating trend for the bowlers. He was hit for 4,4,6,6,6 in the same over on five consecutive deliveries. Pandya also scored the fastest ever century for an Indian batting at no. 8.

Cricket - Sri Lanka v India - Third Test Match

Apart from his fantastic innings his celebration too was something which made everyone smile as he gestured the same way as Dhawan did when he scored his ton, who repeated it from the dressing room. Due to the brilliance of Pandya, Dhawan and Rahul, India once again managed to post a huge total of 487 runs. Pandya went unbeaten on 108 runs.

The Lankan innings once again started on a low note, as they lost early wickets and soon the scoreboard showed 38-4, leaving the Sri Lankan fans with a bleak hopes of a fightback. Dickwella and Chandimal showed some fight. For a time it seemed that the two will  be able to pose some difficulties for the Indian bowler but then it was the turn of chinaman Kuldeep Yadav who along with Ashwin seemed to be in a hurry to finish the match. From 101-5 to 135-10, Indian spinners, being led by Kuldeep, who picked up four wickets, rushed the things and India once again gave the follow-on to the miserable Lankan team.

In the second innings, as well Lanka lost their first wicket with only fifteen runs on the board. Finally, Sri Lanka ended the day on 19-1. Sri Lanka will now have to show why they are one of the ten test playing nations tomorrow, or else the match will end tomorrow itself and it will be yet another innings victory for the mighty Indian side and more and more misery for the Lankans.
