The only T20I between India and Sri Lanka will take place today at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo from 7PM onwards. After being completely white-washed in the Test and ODI series, Sri Lanka will try to take revenge in the only T20I. Lack of experience will be the major disadvantage, which the Sri Lankans will be facing in this T20I as they have a completely young squad. Mathews, Tharanga and Perera will have to be among the runs for Sri Lanka to bat decently.
Their bowling attack will be led by their most experienced bowler, Lasith Malinga along with Lakmal and the young man Dananjaya who impressed us by his heroic 6-wicket bowling spell in one of the ODI’s. Though the Sri Lankans have shown good form in their last few T20I against South Africa and the Aussies, but it would be very difficult for them to defeat the in-form Indians.
Talking about the Indian team, they have been doing all things right in all the departments of the game since the test series and continued that form in the ODI’s as well. The batting, as usual, is world class and doing wonders as all the batsmen were among the runs in the ODI series. Virat Kohli, the king of chasing along with MS Dhoni have shown promise in their batting since the start of the year 2017 and have contributed in each and every game. If these two show the same form in the T20I as well, then no one can stop the Indians from winning. Rohit and KL Rahul will play a very crucial in the top order as they are known to take the team off to a good start. Also, you cannot leave the ‘Pandya’ factor for India as once he gets going, he will mess up the things for the Sri Lankans. The bowling attack will be led by Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the best in the business. They are capable of taking wickets at crucial points of the game. If this combination works, then Sri Lanka will have to do something extra-ordinary in order to win this T20I.
