Del Porto tarnishes Fedal Showdown!

Far from everyone’s expectations, Federer and Nadal won’t be sharing the court and their US Open collision still holds back, as Juan Martín Del Potro kicks Roger Federer out of US Open 2017 in the first quarter-finals. The 3rd seed Swiss was sent home by the 24th seed Argentine by 7-5, 3-6, 7-6 (10/8), 6-4 on Wednesday in Arthur Ashe Stadium.
The 19-time Grand Slam winner Federer said, “I didn’t deserve to win” as he couldn’t take revenge out of their 2009 epic clash in the finals. He further added, “Unfortunately I ran into a guy who was better than me today. Juan Martin fought like a lion.”

The final match statistics were not bad for Federer but he was unexpectedly hesitant, making errors at key moments as he lost his first Grand Slam match of the year.

2. Raphael Nadal and Roger Federer have never shared court in US-Open ever. There was a great anticipation for their 38th all-time clash and first ever at US- Open. Unfortunately, the wait still prevails.

3. This can be a great comeback for Martin and a fairly good chance to showcase his skills, as he enters the US-Open 2017 Semi-Finals.

On the other hand, Raphael Nadal whitewashes A. Rublev in quarters by straight sets to enter the much anticipated Semis. Federer’s return back to home will definitely favor Nadal to a great extent, thus overpowering him for the new number one contender of the tournament.
