Wayne Rooney to Return to Old Trafford

After 13 years of service – Rooney now returns to his former home stadium under rather different circumstances. It would be a special match as Wayne Rooney, United’s all-time leading goal scorer will face his former side for the first time after ending his 13 year tenure at Old Trafford.

“It will be weird to see Wayne playing with different shirt”
– Juan Mata

Rooney has played 559 times for United and has scored 253 goals during his time there. He recently announced his international retirement from England. Fans from all over the world are waiting with anticipation for this match.

Manchester United

United got off to a flying start in their opening Champions’ League group game as goals from Lukaku, Fellaini and Rashford sealed a comfortable win at Old Trafford.  While in English League, United could only draw against Stoke. The Red Devils could have won but they were let down by defensive errors.

Although United is looking quite impressive with their firepower but we cannot deny the fact that their defence looked shaky when they conceded twice against Stoke. United’s star player Pogba would not be able to play against Everton due to an injury so United would have to rely on Herrera or Fellaini.

Everton

Everton has had a rough start this season. Looking at Everton’s last three matches – they earned a point against Manchester City and lost both their matches to Chelsea and Spurs.
Their attack is struggling to create much of anything while only Oumar Niasse and Ademola Lookman were able to impress the fans with their performances. Something surely has to change for this club. But we should also remember that this is happening against some very tough opposition.
Still, Everton has a long season to go and also has Europa League lined up.  If Everton wants to qualify for next Champions League, Rooney will have to play an integral role.

We hope Old Trafford welcomes Wayne Rooney as he deserves.

The match will be broadcasted on 17th September at 4 PM Local Time.
