Arsenal striker OLIVIER GIROUD scores his 100th goal for the club. Giroud has become the 19th player to reach 100 goals for the gunners. A penalty kick against BATE Borisov on Thursday evening in a Europa league match was the Frenchman’s 100th goal for Arsenal since joining from Montpellier in 2012.
The 30-year old reached this milestone in his 237th appearance for the club, making him the 12th fastest Gunner to reach the tally. He reached the landmark faster than the likes of Robin Van Persie (238 games) and Denis Bergkamp (296 games). The recent player to reach the landmark was Theo Walcott.
Giroud has scored many brilliant and memorable goals but out of those 100 goals, undoubtedly, the best one was the famous ‘scorpion kick’ against crystal palace last season.
Giroud signed for the gunners in 2012 from Montpellier for a transfer fee of around £9.6 million. Since then he has scored at least 15 goals in every season.
Giroud was heavily linked with a move away from the Emirates stadium in the recent transfer window after the signing of his national team-mate Alexandre Lacazette for a club record fee. But he decided to stay instead and opted to fight for a place in the first team.
