Indian badminton sensation Kidambi Srikanth rose to his career best ranking of No.2 in the recently announced official rankings by the Badminton World Federation. This is the highest ranking for an Indian Badminton player in the male category since the official Badminton World Federation (BWF) was introduced.
Srikanth started his international career 5 years back in 2012, and in just three years he dethroned the then top players to clinch the No.3 position and from then he never looked back.
His record fourth super-series title of the year at French Open propelled him to career high ranking No.2 in latest BWF ranking which was released today. The top spot in Men rankings continued to be occupied by Dane Victor Axelsen, while Korea Son Wan
Ho moved down to 3rd spot.
HS Prannoy, who reached the French Super-series Semifinal, also moved to a career-best spot at No 11. He was ranked 12th last week. B Sai Praneeth and Ajay Jayaram moved a spot down to 16th and 22nd, while Sameer Verma stayed static at 18th.
In Women’s singles PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal maintained their position at Rankings 2 and 11 respectively.
