Sri Lanka to face the modern “Invincibles”

Merely three months have passed when India visited Sri Lanka and white-washed the Lankans in all three formats of the game and now here we are yet again, with Kohli and co. all set to destroy the Lankans, this time on their soil. 3 tests, 3 ODIs and 3 t-20s are to be played between the two sides in the next few weeks.

R. Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja are back in Indian team after a long time. They last played an international match against Sri Lanka in August, i.e. they have been out of action for about three months. There is great news for Ashwin fans that if Ashwin takes 8 wickets in these series he becomes the first ever bowler to take fastest 300 wickets. The current record is held by Dennis Lillie who took 300 wickets in 56 test matches.Ashwin already has 292 wickets in just 52 matches.Murali Vijay has also returned to the team after a long injury and now it will be interesting to see which pair will open for team India, will it be Murali-Rahul, Rahul -Dhawan or Murali-Dhawan. If Lokesh Rahul plays the match and scores a fifty then Lokesh Rahul become the first player in the history of cricket to score 8 consecutive fifties. Hardik Pandya who is the part of the Indian team since a long time is given rest. Ishant Sharma comes back to test squad and it will be interesting to see him bowling.

Sri Lanka will look for their first victory against India this year. The Sri-Lankan team looked in great form as they recently won the 2 test match against Pakistan in UAE.The return of Angelo Mathews has certainly boosted Srilanka before the three-match series. Lankan batsman played very well in a two-day practice match against Indian board president XI. Srilankan team scored 411 runs and lost just 6 wickets which included 4 half centuries which definitely give the Lankan batsman some confidence. Skipper Dinesh Chandimal must have to bat well in middle order if they want to score big runs. When it comes to the bowling part, bowling is always the main issue for the Lankan team. Rangana Herath is the only experienced bowler in Lankan squad and will play a vital role in the series for Sri-Lanka.
