Pogba’s brilliant return from injury inspired Man Utd to an amazing comeback against the Magpies, as Romelu Lukaku ended his 7 match goal drought.
Things couldn’t have been better for Jose Mourinho (except the early goal conceded) as Pogba, returning from action after 2 months, put in a man of the match performance in the 70 spell he had, scoring one and creating another for his French compatriot Anthony Martial.
The match also saw Romelu Lukaku end his, quite worrying, 7 match goal drought, with a bullet strike from the centre of the box which seemed like would tear net up. He too had pretty good game overall.
The fan-favourite, Zlatan Ibrahimovic also made his comeback after 7 months, out since April suffering a double ligament damage in his right knee. He came on as a substitute replacing Anthony Martial with around 15 mins remaining. His entry to the pitch was marked by a very loud cheer from the Old Trafford. Though, he would be a bit disappointed as his acrobatic effort was saved by the Newcastle goalkeeper which denied him a returning goal.
The red half of the Manchester were shocked early on in the game, as Dwight Gayle had sent Newcastle into the lead with a precision finish in the 18th minute. It was the first time when a visiting player had scored a goal at Old Trafford this season in the PL. United took some time to get back to their senses, but when they did they were unstoppable.
All in all, it was a great match for Man Utd as they challenge Man City. A brilliant comeback saw them getting maximum points.
