Finally, the news that all the Barcelona fans had been waiting for.
With Messi contract expiring at the end of the year and some rumors of Messi being linked with Manchester City and Pep Guardiola, to be more specific, had made some Barcelona fans nervous.
But Barcelona board made sure that Messi stayed with them as they finally announced Messi signing a new contract with FC Barcelona which keeps the Argentine forward with the club until 2020-21 season with a huge buyout clause of €700m. Thus, by the time the new deal expires, the 30-year-old striker will have spent 17 years with the first team.
The news was announced following the day Messi won his 4th Golden Boot Award.
Messi has till now played 602 games for Barcelona wherein he has scored 523 goals, has won 30 trophies, including 5 Balon D’Ors and has got many more records to his name.
So Barcelona fans have now got two reasons to celebrate!
