Borussia Dortmund ended the Champions League Group Stages in the worst scenario without a win. Qualifying for Uefa Europa League with just 2 points.
There was another slice of Champions League history for Cristiano Ronaldo as Borussia Dortmund’s miserable campaign ended with a 3-2 defeat at the Santiago Bernabeu on the last matchday.
Dortmund is the first team in the history of football who came third in its group with just 2 points, the minimum points with which a team has qualified for Europa League.
It was one of the worst Champions League run for Bundesliga giants as they ended their Champions League phase without a win gaining points just with two 1-1 draws against Apoel Nicosia.
Borrusia Dortmund’s manager Peter Bosz was still unimpressed with Los Blancos despite pulling-off by 3-2.
“After today’s game, I don’t know whether Real Madrid are favourite for the Champions League crown this season”. He said in the press conference.
Real Madrid was impressive throughout the game creating chances and scoring two early goals. But it doesn’t took time for Dortmund to equal the scoreline after Aubameyang scored the second rebound chip from the penalty shot.
But a late outswinger at the bottom corner by Lucas Vazquez turned the match towards the home side following a miss chance by Shinji Kagawa to make the scoreline draw to 3-3.
Aubameyang had scored 4 goals against Real Madrid, his favourite opponent in Champions League. And many time has shown his desire to play for the Spanish Giants.
