Kolkata Knight Riders – Retained Players

Having won the tournament twice, Kolkata Knight Riders are one of most feared oppositions. One of their hallmarks has been their decision to maintain the same core group of players who have performed consistently over the years.

According to rules laid down by the IPL Governing Council, each franchise can retain a maximum of five players. Kolkata squad involves a lot of star players and hence picking five from there would be a big headache for KKR.

Here is  list of players that may be retained by KKR this year:

Gautam Gambhir

561940-453778-gambhir-kkr-afpGautam Gambhir, the skipper, has led KKR to two IPL triumphs in 2012 and 2014. He fulfills his duty as a captain and as an opening batsman. Gambhir is the highest run scorer for KKR till now and he is also one of the highest run scorers in the history of the IPL.

Manish Pandey

Manish Pandey innings of 94 runs in 2014 finals against Punjab led KKR to an easy win. Manish Pandey has been regular with the national side for a while now and you got to say he has earned his place in national side.

Andre Russell

Andre-Russell-celebrates1Andre Russell, the west indies all-rounder is well known for his hard-hitting style. He was a regular performer for KKR in last two season of IPL. He contributes in every format of the game whether it is Batting, Bowling or fielding.

Sunil Narine

sunil-narine-1460215291-800Sunil Narine is one of the best bowlers of this format, He remains the only bowler to have bowled a maiden over in a T20 game. Narine always plays a crucial role in winning of Kolkata and he was adjudged the player of the tournament in KKR’s maiden IPL triumph in 2012. In last season of IPL, he performed for KKR with its bat also and emerged as an explosive opening batsman and score fastest 50 in the history of the tournament.
