RO-HITMAN Gets Another Double Ton

When it comes to scoring big hundreds, Rohit is certainly not someone who can be trusted anymore, as he no longer seems to be interested in centuries. Whenever he gets one he just converts it in a double ton. Yet another match, yet another double century, yet another tale to tell.

Once again he started as he always does, slow in the start. He completed his fifty in 65 balls, till then Dhawan was the leading scorer. After the dismissal of Dhawan, Rohit started to play the way he’s known for until Iyer took over. After completing his fifty Iyer shifted the gears to maximum and scored his next 30 in a very quick time.

As soon as Rohit completed his 16th ODI ton in 115 balls, he shifted gears to infinite. In the 44th over, he smashed Lakmal for four sixes and jumped from 116 to 140 and because of this over it took him only 18 more balls to reach to his 150. In the next over too, he continued with his hitting. After that, it was a one-man show all the way. It was just raining sixes and fours. He was toying with the Lankan bowling and took only 9 more balls to reach his third double ton in ODIs. With the help of 13 fours and 12 sixes he scored 208 runs off just 153 balls and helped India to reach a grand total of 392 runs.

With this double century, Rohit now holds the record of scoring three double centuries in ODIs with most of the other batsmen having none against their name. Now it seems that Rohit will have an additional column against his name of double centuries with three backing up the stats. This also is the highest score by an Indian captain against Sri- Lanka. In this way, Rohit gave the best possible gift to Ritika on their marriage anniversary.
