El Clasico – Combined XI

Saturday’s El Clasico at the Bernabeu could be extremely decisive in this year’s title race. Madrid finds themselves eleven points behind Barca, but a win would close the gap to eight points with Real having a game in hand.

Both teams usually provide exciting encounters and nobody should expect anything different this time around in what is a crucial game for both sides. Barca are heading into the game as the only unbeaten team in Europe and will look forward to continuing their streak.

Here’s the best current XI of El Clasico based on the form of players in this season so far.

Goalkeeper- Ter Stegen

The German goalkeeper this season is in tremendous form and has put in some very good performances for Barca. The Barcelona keeper has a significantly better saves per goal ratio than Keylor Navas and has kept six more clean sheets than the Real Madrid goalkeeper (a league high), proving he’s better than Navas in goalkeeping aspects.

Right back – Carvajal

Daniel Carvajal is superior to any Barcelona option at right back. The Spanish right-back will have a tough job this Saturday on his hands to contain Barcelona’s attack down the left-hand side, but he will be ready for everything Barcelona throw at him. He’s a type of right back which is very much involved in Real’s attack as well from the right-hand side of the pitch.

Centre Back – Sergio Ramos

Ramos is one of the best central defenders in world football. The Spanish centre-back is guaranteed to give 100% and put his body on the line at all costs in trying to help Madrid win this pivotal match.

But he must remain careful as in last year’s Clasico at Santiago Bernabeu the Real captain had been sent off which resulted in a 3-2 loss to Los Blancos.

Centre BackRaphael Varane

The Frenchman has utterly frightening pace for a defender and that will be ideal when faced with a forward line like of Barcelona. Zidane has shown a lot of confidence in Raphael Varane since he replaced Benitez.

Varane is the heart of Madrid’s defense and it is his duty on this weekend to keep Barca’s attack in check.

Left BackJordi Alba

It’s a hard choice to make between two world-class left-backs but the only reason Alba made a cut into our combined XI before Marcelo is due to Alba’s form in this season so far. He provided five assists in LaLiga 2017/18 which is more than any other left-back in the league currently.

Alba – Messi combination has proved to be so deadly and it’ll be Carvajal’s duty in Clasico to keep a check on Alba’s movement on Barca’s left wing.

Sergio Busquets

The best CDM in the world right now beats Casemiro in this position. Whenever Busquets is on the side, Barcelona keeps the ball better and create more chances due to his influence.

If he played at his best in upcoming Clasico Barca will have a very high probability of blocking Madrid’s attack through the midfield.

Luka Modric

Tough choice between him and Kroos but his great display in CWC(won best player award) won him his position in our combined XI. The magician is heart of Real’s midfield and if Real wants to win the Clasico, Modric has to take over the midfield.

Andres Iniesta

The best midfielder of this generation Andres Iniesta easily breaks into our combined XI. The midfield maestro is a product of La Masia ( Barca’s youth academy) and remained as top midfielder for many years. His vision and defence breaking passes are out of the world. Barca’s performance will rely on him so much on Saturday.

Lionel Messi

With 14 goals this season, Messi has been nothing short of his normal, unplayable self. In his last liga Clasico outing at Santiago Bernabaeu he scored a brace including a 92nd minute winner. It will be vital for Barcelona that the Argentinian has a good game in the Clasico but if he produces anything similar to what he has this season, Barca will have a great chance of winning the game.

Luis Suarez

The Uruguayan striker was always seen as a magnificent player in the Premier League, but since moving to Barcelona, he has established himself as one of the best in the world and is a far better player than Madrid striker Karim Benzema.

He started this season with lack of form but in last match he scored a brilliant brace against deportivo. If Suarez finds his scoring boots in upcoming clasico than it’ll be easier for Barca to beat Real.

Cristiano Ronaldo

The Portuguese Ballon d’Or winner struck two goals in the home win against Sevilla in the La Liga last week along with a goal in the Final of CWC as he once again showed he always steps up in the big games.

It’s likely to be a night where the two best players in the world are compared, and Ronaldo has to step up for Real in this must win tie for them.

So Here Is Our Combined XI:
