Spanish giants Barcelona are reportedly set to move ahead with their proposed deal for Paris Saint-Germain star Angel Di Maria with Sport claiming that the Paris based club are holding out for a fee in the region of €45 million plus €15m in bonuses.
The Catalan giants are in the market for a creative attacking midfielder/winger and have been heavily linked with a move for Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho, but with the Reds firm in not letting the Brazilian go, Barcelona believe that Di Maria is a suitable alternative and would also come in for half the price of the Brazilian.
The Argentinian was set to move to the Nou Camp in the summer, with reports stating that the club had reached an agreement with the player but the asking price of €75 million was too much, with Barcelona balking at the price.
If Di Maria does make the proposed move, he would join Ronaldo, Luis Figo, Luis Enrique, Michael Laudrup who were among the star names to make the divide. The 29-year-old who moved to Paris from Manchester United in 2015 has struggled for regular game time under manager Unai Emery, making 18 appearances this season while scoring four goals and registering six assists so far.
