The 26-year-old Atletico forward Antoine Griezmann is currently the hot topic in the transfer market. He is heavily linked with several big clubs like FC Barcelona and Manchester United but it seems like these powerhouses will have to splash out a huge chunk of cash to land Griezmann to Camp Nou or Old Trafford after a recent statement of Atletico’s chief executive Miguel Angel Gil Marin.
“Until July 1 Griezmann’s release clause is €200m”, he claimed.
“Atletico doesn’t want to sell Griezmann either now or in the summer,”
“Our intention is to keep growing altogether. Last summer we made an effort beyond the possibilities of the club and we’ll do it again next summer.”
“Griezmann departure isn’t in our hands, but until summer is impossible to leave us.”, stated Gil Marin.
Although Atletico’s chief executive is reluctant to let go of the star striker, Atletico’s coach has clearly said: “he would not come in Griezmann’s way.”
Having their FIFA player registration ban lifted, Atletico aim to pair Diego Costa alongside Antonio Griezmann.
“It’s been hard for us to get Griezmann and Diego Costa together and I think it’s going to be very good for Atletico,” added Gil Marin.
Griezmann’s transfer speculation is at an all-time high after Camp Nou director Guillermo Amor said it was possible Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu “had a meeting with Griezmann’s family”.
