2017: Test 11 of The Year

Overal 46 test matches have been played this year with one still to be played in Zimbabwe. At the end of the year, Team India stands at no.1 in ICC Test Rankings with South Africa following closely behind. It has been a great year in terms of records being made and broken. A great many performances came from great players. Here is SportsJoint’s Test Team of the Year:

Openers: Dean Elgar and Hashim Amla

The South African opening pair has been in great form this year and been a solid anchor for the SA batting order helping them in retaining the second position in test rankings.

Elgar amassed 1097 runs this year in 20 innings with five centuries and four half-centuries. This has been Elgar’s best year in his career and with one test to go, he can be the top run-getter of the year.

On the other hand, Amla scored 942 runs in the same number of innings as Elgar. In the process, he scored three centuries and four half-centuries. With an average just a hint under 50, Amla couldn’t miss out on our team of the year.
