Afghanistan all set to make their test debut

Afghanistan is all set to make their historic test debut. Keeping in mind their exceptional growth in last few years ICC have given them and Ireland the much awaited test status making them permanent members of the board.

Afghanistan will play their first ever test against India in the Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru from June 14 to 18, only if it will last for so long. Officials from both boards made the decision on 16 January.

While Afghanistan will play against India Ireland will play their first ever test against Pakistan in May. According to BCCI acting secretary, Amitabh Chaudhary, “India has good diplomatic relations with Afghanistan for a long time. We thought it was fitting that we host their landmark Test. We selected Bengaluru because other parts of India are either too hot or will witness monsoons during that period. We expect a lot of VIPs to attend the match. It’s an extension of what the board did when South Africa re-entered the international scene in 1991,”.

Afghanistan Cricket Board’s CEO Ashfaq Stanikzai said: “We must thank BCCI for giving us this opportunity to play our inaugural Test. We respect their busy schedule and I am sure the fans of Afghanistan team will travel to Bengaluru to watch the game.”
