Barcelona’s heart of the defense Gerard Pique is set to miss the important Champions League clash against Chelsea which is a huge boost to the west Londoners following their disappointing Premier League campaign.
The Barca center-back scored a late equalizer against Espanyol, silencing the rugged crowd who had booed him throughout the game.
Despite playing the full game, he picked up a knock during the encounter, so he’s suspected to be sidelined for about a month which means that he would miss the clash against Chelsea.
He’s undergoing the diagnosis and then the full extent of the injury along with the return date would be revealed.
Pique’s injury means a selection headache for Ernesto Valverde as Thomas Vermaelen is also injured which leaves the door open for the debut of Colombian Yerry Mina.
Ernesto Valverde, when asked, stated, “We’re not in pre-season and there is no time for experiments. We are at a critical stage of the season and when he’s needed to play he will play.”
