This news will come as a shock to the Man Utd fans, as Paul Pogba, who was set to start against Huddersfield today in the FA Cup, will miss the match due to an untimely illness.
Jose Mourinho yesterday in his pre-match conference confirmed that Paul Pogba will start today’s match after labelling all the rumours about his relationship with the midfielder were “Lies” and that Paul Pogba is just experiencing a dip in form and there is no argument between the two regarding his playing position.
“I don’t have to speak with you about my conversations with my players. I don’t have to tell you anything about it,” he said on Friday.
“It is my problem, it is the player’s problem. A big lie that our relationship is not good, a big lie that we don’t communicate, a big lie that we don’t agree with his positions and his involvement in the dynamic of the team.
Pogba was reportedly unhappy at being played too deep in midfield, but Mourinho took exception to those reports.
“So, be objective and say what we all know: in the last couple of matches he didn’t play well. Period. End of story.
“Now, it’s my problem and Paul’s problem to deal with it and try to improve his performance level. You don’t need to be a liar.”
Man Utd’s official twitter account has revealed that Pogba will be out today and academy player Ethan Hamilton will take his place in the squad.
The young and industrious Scottish midfielder has impressed during his seven UEFA Youth League appearances this campaign, scoring one goal for Nicky Butt’s team. Aged 19, he is also a regular in the club’s Under-23s team and featured on Friday night against Chelsea at Leigh Sports Village.
This is Hamilton’s first inclusion in a senior squad and the youngster will wear the No. 48 shirt at the John Smith’s Stadium, where the FA Cup fifth-round tie is scheduled to kick off at 17:30 GMT.
