With an aim to solidify its future, Bayern Munich have started binding its young talents to the club. The first in the list was Kingsley Coman who had recently signed a new contract which keeps him with the German champions till 2023. Following this, Bayern Munich have now announced a new contract of Joshua Kimmich which will see him at the Allianz Arena till 2023 as well.
“I’m very happy to extend my contract so early,” Kimmich said on the club’s official website. “This shows that the club and those responsible have a lot of trust in me and see me as an important part of the long-term sporting success of Bayern Munich. That makes me proud!”
Kimmich has emerged as one of the pillars of the success of the Bavarians in this season as early as at a young age of just 22. The young right-back has filled in Philip Lahm’s shoes quite well as he has become an indispensable part of the team.
He is also enjoying quite a good time in his international career with having recently broken a record held by Berti Vogts by making 23 consecutive appearances for his country. It is expected that he will be the firsts of the players named for the upcoming World Cup by Joachim Löw.
“Joshua has become a mainstay in our team over the last two and a half years,” said Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Bayern Munich chief executive. “So we’re very happy that we were able to retain him in the long term. After his very positive development in the right-back position, Bayern have made a seamless transition into the future.”
